“Capitol Dome” recreates the silhouette of the U.S. Capitol dome — the seat of the U.S. Congress located on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The layout was inspired by the second version of the dome, completed in January 1866 and still standing today. This is one of the themed layouts created in celebration of U.S. Independence Day.

“Capitol Dome” is built from three tile layers, mostly concentrated at the base. The shape loosely mirrors the dome’s vaulted design. Its recognizable appearance is enhanced by the central tiers and columns. Due to its structure, the layout offers a large number of open tiles at the beginning, allowing for a variety of strategic approaches. The main challenge lies in the long horizontal rows forming the base tiers.

  • Focus on the tiers: These long horizontal rows block access to many tiles. Clearing them should be a top priority.
  • Watch the layers: Although most tiles are spread across one or two layers (with up to three at the base), this layout does not make clearing easy. The tiers often obstruct access, so careful, step-by-step removal is essential.
  • Do not ignore the top: The upper part of the dome may seem simple, but during the mid-game, it can cause dead ends if key tiles become blocked.
  • Use reshuffle if needed: If you run out of moves, do not hesitate to use the shuffle function. It can help you finish the level and discover new paths to victory.

  • Focus on tall stacks — they hide tricky pairs.

    Tall stacks of tiles should be a key priority in Mahjong Solitaire. Not only are they difficult to dismantle, but they may also contain two identical tiles stacked directly on top of each other. If no matching tiles exist outside the stack, you may find yourself stuck.
