You can only remove a tile if it is open on either its left or right side. If a tile is blocked on both sides, you cannot remove it.

Tall stacks of tiles should be a key priority in Mahjong Solitaire. Not only are they difficult to dismantle, but they may also contain two identical tiles stacked directly on top of each other. If no matching tiles exist outside the stack, you may find yourself stuck.
